Yuval received an M.Sc. in geophysics (1995) and a Ph.D. in physical oceanography (2001), both from the Earth and Ocean Sciences Dept. at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. After completing a two years post-doctoral position developing statistical models for meteorological applications, he joined the Environmental, Water and Agricultural Engineering Dept., Faculty of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Technion, in 2003 as a Senior Research Fellow. His current scientific work strives to achieve better understanding of the spatial and temporal distribution of air pollutants in the urban environment. Yuval's studies involve development and application of statistical and optimization tools to examine various aspects of air pollution data with the goal of obtaining deeper insight into the sources and the processes that bring them about. The results of these studies find practical applications in improved estimations of air pollution exposure in epidemiological investigations.
